The Lodge in Cusco, Machu Picchu, Peru
Competition entry

Public lodge. Tube where the essential functions for stay ate placed in a row. Place to eat, sleep, cook, wash and bath. The dining and Living areas are placed on the north side of the tube to catch the views of the whole valley with Huana Picchu. The rooms are conceived as two story containers with open porches to the valley sitting on the stone platform. The gaps between volumes generate an unexpected space with steps carved from bedrock. The thin footprint of the entire structure, only one room deep, allows simultaneous views of both the mountain of Patacusi and the valley with Machu Picchu.
